By Wednesday morning, the skepticism of the election results evolved into a full-blown conspiracy centered on Fairfax County, a Democratic stronghold in the northern part of the state.
The lawsuit calls the effort “a key component of the Trump Administration’s attempts to take over elections from states and subvert the 2026 midterms.”
“They’re basically acknowledging they got nothing,” one elections expert said. “It’s going to be used for propaganda and PR. And DOJ’s law enforcement powers aren’t supposed to be used for propaganda and PR.”
